M\u016fj rok s AFS m\u011b nau\u010dil spoustu v\u011bc\u00ed o sob\u011b sam\u00e9m a tak\u00e9 o \u010cesk\u00e9 republice. Po n\u00e1vratu do USA jsem tu\u0161il, \u017ee moje cesta nebyla u konce. Po p\u0159\u00edjezdu z\u00a0AFS programu jsem studoval na Indiana University, kde jsem z\u00edskal dva bakal\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e9 tituly v oblasti lingvistiky a mezin\u00e1rodn\u00edch studi\u00ed. Na vysok\u00e9 \u0161kole jsem pokra\u010doval ve studiu \u010desk\u00e9ho jazyka. Kdy\u017e jsem byl ve\u00a0druh\u00e9m ro\u010dn\u00edku, \u010desk\u00e9 odd\u011blen\u00ed na univerzit\u011b dokonce zorganizovalo Cimrmanovu divadeln\u00ed hru \u2013 Vra\u017eda v\u00a0salonn\u00edm coup\u00e9. A j\u00e1 si zahr\u00e1l roli Hlav\u00e1\u010dka. V\u00a0sou\u010dasn\u00e9 dob\u011b se \u00fa\u010dastn\u00edm Fulbrightova programu, kter\u00fd zaji\u0161\u0165uje vl\u00e1da USA a vl\u00e1da \u010cesk\u00e9 republiky. Ka\u017ed\u00fd rok je vybr\u00e1no t\u0159icet Ameri\u010dan\u016f z v\u00edce jak 300 uchaze\u010d\u016f. Vybran\u00ed Ameri\u010dan\u00e9 vyu\u010duj\u00ed angli\u010dtinu ve \u0161kol\u00e1ch po cel\u00e9 \u010cesk\u00e9 republice, tyto \u0161koly by jinak t\u011b\u017eko sh\u00e1n\u011bly rodil\u00e9 mluv\u010d\u00ed. M\u016fj konzultant mi sd\u011blil, \u017ee jak\u00e1koli dlouhodob\u00e1 zku\u0161enost v \u010cesk\u00e9 republice, a zejm\u00e9na znalost \u010desk\u00e9ho jazyka, mi velmi pom\u016f\u017ee ve v\u00fdb\u011brov\u00e9m procesu. Proto vd\u011b\u010d\u00edm AFS za mou sou\u010dasnou pr\u00e1ci, moment\u00e1ln\u011b toti\u017e vyu\u010duji na gymn\u00e1ziu \u0160lapanice u Brna. Studenti, u\u010ditel\u00e9 a p\u0159\u00e1tel\u00e9 mi velice pom\u00e1haj\u00ed b\u011bhem m\u00e9ho druh\u00e9ho pobytu v \u010cesk\u00e9 republice. Po\u0159\u00e1d cestuji do Hradce Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9, abych vid\u011bl svou \u010deskou rodinu, u kter\u00e9 jsem \u017eil b\u011bhem AFS programu. St\u00e1le se sna\u017e\u00edm z\u016fstat v\u00a0kontaktu s AFS \u010cR. Zjistil jsem toti\u017e, \u017ee zku\u0161enost AFS nikdy nekon\u010d\u00ed, a\u0165 vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1te dovednosti ze studia v\u00a0zahrani\u010d\u00ed ve sv\u00e9m profesn\u00edm \u017eivot\u011b, ve sv\u00e9 domovsk\u00e9 zemi, nebo zda je vyu\u017eijete k n\u00e1vratu do hostitelsk\u00e9 zem\u011b. V\u00edce ne\u017e kdekoli jinde, \u200b\u200btady v Brn\u011b, v \u010cesk\u00e9 republice a se svou hostitelskou rodinou se c\u00edt\u00edm jako doma!<\/p>\n

Origin\u00e1l<\/em><\/p>\n My name is Parker Henry. \u00a0I am from the USA, and I was fortunate enough to participate in an AFS exchange to Hradec Kralove during the 2012-2013 school year. \u00a0My year with AFS taught me so many things about myself and about the Czech Republic, and when I returned to the USA, I had a feeling my journey here was not over. \u00a0After AFS, I attended Indiana University where I earned two bachelor\u2019s degrees in Linguistics and International Studies. For my college\u2019s language requirement, I continued learning the Czech langauge. The Czech department at my university even performed Cimrman\u2019s Vrazda v Salonnim Coupe in my second year, and I played the role of Hlavacek. Now, after graduating, I am participating in the Fulbright Program which runs through the governments of both the USA and the Czech Republic. Each year, thirty Americans are chosen from over three hundred applicants to teach English in schools across the Czech Republic which wouldn\u2019t normally have the resource of a native speaker. My program director told me personally that any long-term experience in the Czech Republic, and especially Czech language skills, help applicants immensely in the selection process. Therefore, I owe my current job to AFS and the amazing experience I was able to have six years ago. Currently, I am teaching at Gymnazium \u0160lapanice right outside of Brno. The students, teachers, and community has been so helpful to me during my second stay in the Czech Republic. I still travel to Hradec Kralove often to see my Czech family from 2012, and I try to stay involved in AFS Czech Republic events.
