Hi Angelica! How are you? Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from, and why did you choose the Czech Republic and how long did you stay? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Hello! I am from Honduras, a small country from Central America. I chose the Czech Republic because, in complete honesty, I knew about the country itself for example the basics, like where it is located or the capital city, Prague. However, I wanted to experience the lifestyle and culture myself so, what better way than to do it in person. I have stayed for 9 months.

\"\"<\/figure><\/p>\n

What was the main reason for deciding to go abroad?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

At first, it was encouragement from my dad because he first had an exchange year when he was younger. As I started looking more into the idea of learning about different cultures, different manners, different everything, I was up for a challenge.<\/p>\n

Do you feel that living in another country has broadened your horizons? Have you gained new perspectives and if so, which ones?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Living in another country has definitely changed my perspective around the world. For example, I used to live under the idea that people from Europe tend to have a cold demeanor. This much is true until I actually got to meet people and they warmed up to me really quickly. Aside from that, I realized that life does not need to be taken so fast, meaning that you do not have to rush it to catch up to those around you. It is most definitely worth it to figure out your own pace in life, wish I achieved in this amazing exchange year.<\/p>\n

What was the biggest challenge when you came here? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The biggest of them all, I must admit, was the language barrier. Czech is one of the toughest languages I have ever encountered. There were times where I felt utterly lost because it was completely hard to communicate with all the incredible people around me. These moments inspired me to focus my free time into learning Czech, and I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. I am even more glad because my host mom does not speak a lot of English, so I really wanted to talk to her about everything. I cannot say I speak the language perfectly; I have many struggles every day, but I understand a few phrases or at least the most important ones.<\/p>\n

How about your host family? Did you feel like at home?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I believe that every member of my host family is one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my entire life. As soon as I was welcomed into the house, they were so special towards me. I have since built a different relationship with each of them, and I will cherish them forever. I honestly say that I do feel at home. They have even helped me grow myself, in character and in virtue.<\/p>\n

What did you learn or discover in your time abroad?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I learned the importance of time management. It\u2019s not that I did not know of the concept of time, but I actually had to get more organized and responsible when I had to manage my own schedule. It was not something I completely had the hang of when I first arrived, but I slowly fell into the rhythm, I still have some troubles because I am one to forget everything.<\/p>\n

What about your school? What about the Czech education system, is it what you were expecting? Could you tell us which are the main differences that you have found?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

My school in the Czech Republic is quite different from the one I attended in my home country. One of the main differences is the time we have lunch. I was used to my high school having lunch altogether, of course not all sitting in the same area. In the Czech Republic, every class has a specific time and up to today I still don\u2019t know how it works. Also, in Honduras we finished school at the same time, in this country every day is varied. I was pretty confused in the beginning with not wearing shoes inside but slippers, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

Did you learn something in Czech language?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I would say that I did learn a few things in Czech, mainly what to say and what I do in the day. One thing that helped me achieve this was talking with my host mom only in Czech, I am so glad I learned it especially for her because we both are so happy when we communicate together in Czech, sometimes it\u2019s even comical.<\/p>\n

What did you enjoy the most? What was the best experience? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I could not just decide which one was the best experience, it is so hard to choose between so many of them. What I do believe is the best are all the amazing people I got to meet, they each have given me something unique and I will always remember them forever being part of my life. I\u2019m so grateful for each and every one of them.<\/p>\n

So far, would you consider the possibility of living abroad for a longer period of time?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I definitely have considered it. My host family was the one encouraging me the most, and until now it is something I am still looking into, so hopefully, in the near future, I will see myself back in this amazing country with all of these amazing people.<\/p>\n

Ahoj Angelico! Jak se m\u00e1\u0161? N\u011bco n\u00e1m o sob\u011b pov\u011bz. Odkud jsi, pro\u010d sis vybrala \u010ceskou republiku a jak dlouho jsi zde z\u016fstala?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ahoj! Jsem z Hondurask\u00e9 republiky, co\u017e je mal\u00fd st\u00e1t ve St\u0159edn\u00ed Americe. \u010ceskou republiku jsem si vybrala, proto\u017ee jsem o n\u00ed v\u011bd\u011bla, hlavn\u011b z\u00e1klady, jako kde se nach\u00e1z\u00ed nebo \u017ee hlavn\u00ed m\u011bsto je Praha. Nicm\u00e9n\u011b jsem cht\u011bla za\u017e\u00edt m\u00edstn\u00ed zp\u016fsob \u017eivota a kulturu na vlastn\u00ed k\u016f\u017ei. Nen\u00ed lep\u0161\u00ed zp\u016fsob, ne\u017e pozn\u00e1vat osobn\u011b. M\u016fj pobyt trval dev\u011bt m\u011bs\u00edc\u016f. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Pro\u010d ses rozhodla vyjet do zahrani\u010d\u00ed?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Zprvu to bylo na vyb\u00edzen\u00ed od ta\u0165ky, proto\u017ee ten jel na ro\u010dn\u00ed v\u00fdm\u011bnu, kdy\u017e byl mlad\u0161\u00ed. A jak jsem se za\u010dala zaj\u00edmat o ten n\u00e1pad, o pozn\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed jin\u00fdch kultur, jin\u00fdch mrav\u016f, jin\u00e9ho v\u0161eho, stalo se to pro m\u011b l\u00e1kavou v\u00fdzvou.<\/p>\n

Mysl\u00ed\u0161, \u017ee pobyt v jin\u00e9 zemi roz\u0161\u00ed\u0159il tv\u016fj pohled na sv\u011bt? Z\u00edskala jsi n\u011bjak\u00e9 nov\u00e9 perspektivy, a pokud ano, tak jak\u00e9?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u017divot v zahrani\u010d\u00ed rozhodn\u011b zm\u011bnil m\u016fj pohled na okoln\u00ed sv\u011bt. Nap\u0159\u00edklad jsem d\u0159\u00edve \u017eila v p\u0159esv\u011bd\u010den\u00ed, \u017ee lid\u00e9 v Evrop\u011b b\u00fdvaj\u00ed sp\u00ed\u0161e chladn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed a odta\u017eit\u011bj\u0161\u00ed. Tak to bylo, dokud jsem se nesezn\u00e1mila s lidmi a oni mn\u011b rychle a v\u0159ele p\u0159ijali. Tak\u00e9 mi do\u0161lo, \u017ee \u017eivot nemus\u00ed v\u017edy m\u00edt takov\u00fd sp\u00e1d. Ob\u010das nemus\u00edme sp\u011bchat, abychom dohnali v\u0161echny kolem n\u00e1s. Absolutn\u011b stoj\u00ed za to naj\u00edt sv\u00e9 vlastn\u00ed \u017eivotn\u00ed tempo, co\u017e se mi poda\u0159ilo b\u011bhem tohoto \u00fa\u017easn\u00e9ho roku na v\u00fdm\u011bn\u011b.

Co pro tebe byla nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00ed v\u00fdzva, kdy\u017e jsi p\u0159ijela?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00ed v\u00fdzva ze v\u0161ech byla po pravd\u011b jazykov\u00e1 bari\u00e9ra. \u010ce\u0161tina je jedn\u00edm z nejt\u011b\u017e\u0161\u00edch jazyk\u016f jak\u00e9 zn\u00e1m. \u010casto jsem si p\u0159ipadala \u00fapln\u011b ztracen\u00e1, proto\u017ee pro m\u011b bylo t\u011b\u017ek\u00e9 domluvit se se v\u0161emi t\u011bmi skv\u011bl\u00fdmi lidmi kolem m\u011b. Ale tyhle chv\u00edle m\u011b inspirovaly str\u00e1vit m\u016fj voln\u00fd \u010das u\u010den\u00edm se \u010de\u0161tiny a jsem mimo\u0159\u00e1dn\u011b spokojen\u00e1 s v\u00fdsledkem. Jsem o to \u0161\u0165astn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed, \u017ee moje hostuj\u00edc\u00ed maminka moc neum\u00ed anglicky a j\u00e1 si s n\u00ed cht\u011bla o v\u0161em pov\u00eddat. Nem\u016f\u017eu \u0159\u00edct, \u017ee mluv\u00edm \u010desky dokonale, ka\u017ed\u00fd den nar\u00e1\u017e\u00edm na p\u0159ek\u00e1\u017eky, ale n\u011b\u010demu rozum\u00edm. Alespo\u0148 tomu, na \u010dem z\u00e1le\u017e\u00ed nejv\u00edc.<\/p>\n

A co tvoje hostitelsk\u00e1 rodina? C\u00edtila ses jako doma?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

P\u0159ijde mi, \u017ee ka\u017ed\u00fd \u010dlen m\u00e9 hostitelsk\u00e9 rodiny je jeden z nejmilej\u0161\u00edch lid\u00ed, co jsem potkala za cel\u00fd sv\u016fj \u017eivot. Od chv\u00edle p\u0159\u00edjezdu jsem v\u017edy byla v\u00edt\u00e1na a byli na m\u011b moc hodn\u00ed. Za tu dobu jsem si s ka\u017ed\u00fdm z nich vybudovala speci\u00e1ln\u00ed vztah a budu si jich nav\u017edy v\u00e1\u017eit. Up\u0159\u00edmn\u011b si p\u0159ijdu jako doma. Velmi mi pomohli r\u016fst jako \u010dlov\u011bk.<\/p>\n

Co ses nau\u010dila nebo co jsi objevila za dobu v zahrani\u010d\u00ed?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nau\u010dila jsem se, jak d\u016fle\u017eit\u00e9 je organizovat si \u010das. Ne, \u017ee bych nerozum\u011bla konceptu \u010dasu, ale musela jsem se zorganizovat a p\u0159evz\u00edt zodpov\u011bdnost, kdy\u017e jsem pl\u00e1novala sv\u016fj vlastn\u00ed rozvrh. To nebylo n\u011bco, co jsem m\u011bla p\u0159ed p\u0159\u00edletem \u00fapln\u011b v mal\u00ed\u010dku, ale pomalu jsem do toho zapadla. I tak m\u00e1m ob\u010das pot\u00ed\u017ee, jsem velmi zapomn\u011btliv\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Co tv\u00e1 \u0161kola? Co \u010desk\u00fd \u0161kolsk\u00fd syst\u00e9m, spl\u0148uje tv\u00e1 o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed? Mohla bys n\u00e1m pov\u011bd\u011bt, jak\u00e9 jsou nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00ed rozd\u00edly, kter\u00e9 jsi na\u0161la?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

M\u00e1 \u0161kola v \u010cesk\u00e9 republice je pom\u011brn\u011b odli\u0161n\u00e1 od t\u00e9, kam jsem chodila doma. Jedn\u00edm z nejv\u011bt\u0161\u00edch rozd\u00edl\u016f je, kdy m\u00e1me ob\u011bd. Byla jsem zvykl\u00e1, \u017ee cel\u00e1 \u0161kola m\u00e1 jednotnou pauzu na ob\u011bd a j\u00edme v\u0161ichni spolu, samoz\u0159ejm\u011b roztrou\u0161en\u00ed po \u0161kole. V \u010cesku m\u00e1 ka\u017ed\u00e1 t\u0159\u00edda sv\u016fj \u010das na ob\u011bd a dodnes nerozum\u00edm tomu, jak to funguje. Doma tak\u00e9 \u0161kola kon\u010dila v\u017edy ve stejn\u00fd \u010das, tady je to ka\u017ed\u00fd den jinak. Ze za\u010d\u00e1tku m\u011b tak\u00e9 m\u00e1tlo, \u017ee ve \u0161kole nos\u00edme pantofle m\u00edsto bot, ale na to jsem si rychle zvykla.<\/p>\n

Nau\u010dila ses n\u011bco v \u010de\u0161tin\u011b?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u0158ekla bych, \u017ee jsem se v \u010de\u0161tin\u011b n\u011bco nau\u010dila, hlavn\u011b jak odpov\u00eddat a \u0159\u00edct, co d\u011bl\u00e1m b\u011bhem dne. Jedna z v\u011bc\u00ed, co my nejv\u00edce pomohly, bylo, \u017ee jsem si pov\u00eddala s mou hostitelskou maminkou v\u00fdhradn\u011b \u010desky. Jsem moc r\u00e1da, \u017ee jsem se to nau\u010dila, hlavn\u011b proto, \u017ee jsme ob\u011b \u0161\u0165astn\u00e9, \u017ee m\u016f\u017eeme komunikovat v \u010de\u0161tin\u011b. Ob\u010das je to i vtipn\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Co se ti l\u00edbilo nejv\u00edce? Jak\u00fd je tv\u016fj nejlep\u0161\u00ed z\u00e1\u017eitek?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nem\u016f\u017eu jen tak rozhodnout, kter\u00fd z\u00e1\u017eitek je nejlep\u0161\u00ed. Je t\u011b\u017ek\u00e9 vyb\u00edrat z takov\u00e9 spousty skv\u011bl\u00fdch vzpom\u00ednek. Ale nejlep\u0161\u00ed bylo potkat v\u0161echny ty skv\u011bl\u00e9 lidi, se kter\u00fdmi jsem se sezn\u00e1mila. Ka\u017ed\u00fd z nich mi p\u0159inesl n\u011bco v\u00fdjime\u010dn\u00e9ho a budu si je nav\u017edy pamatovat jako sou\u010d\u00e1st m\u00e9ho \u017eivota. Jsem za n\u011b za ka\u017ed\u00e9ho moc vd\u011b\u010dn\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Zva\u017eovala bys mo\u017enost dlouhodob\u00e9ho \u017eivota v zahrani\u010d\u00ed po sv\u00e9 prozat\u00edmn\u00ed zku\u0161enosti?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rozhodn\u011b to zva\u017euji. M\u00e1 vlastn\u00ed rodina m\u011b v tom podporuje nejv\u00edce a dote\u010f se nad t\u00edm zam\u00fd\u0161l\u00edm. Snad se v bl\u00edzk\u00e9 budoucnosti do t\u00e9hle okouzluj\u00edc\u00ed zem\u011b vr\u00e1t\u00edm za v\u0161emi t\u011bmi skv\u011bl\u00fdmi lidmi.<\/p>\n
